Birthday Bash: SnugZee

As you guys know, we recently got back from a nice long vacation to the Outer Banks. What you might not know is that the Outer Banks is a good 6 hours away from our house!! I was so so so worried about the drive. M hates being in his car seat and I just didn’t know what we were going to do about driving that far with M. I stressed about it for a long time before finally figuring out a schedule that would work for us, and would focus on driving during nap time. I figured this way it wouldn’t be quite as bad, and we could break the drive up with lunch, bathroom stops, etc when M was awake – and then drive as far as we could when he would sleep.

Then my next stress out happened. M has great head control, and has for quite awhile. But when he’s asleep? His little head just sorta flops to the side. In his carseat it looks like the most uncomfortable position ever. A and I always talk about how his poor little neck is going to be sore. I worried that he wouldn’t take naps as long as we were used to because of his neck, or that he’d wake up in some pretty serious pain and be a total fuss-pot the rest of the day. Yes, M’s carseat came with a little head support cushion, but we stopped using that long ago since he hated it, and it made him super super hot.

Then the owner of SnugZee contacted me with the answer to my prayers. Little carseat cushions. These guys hook onto the carseat straps instead of surrounding his head. So there is still room to breath. And how did they work?

His head was supported, M was comfortable and MY GOD did the boy sleep. Can anyone say 3 hour naps??? Yes, you read that right THREE HOURS! EACH WAY! Which meant we only had to do 3 awake hours each way. I am 100% confident our ride would have been much different (not in a good way) without the SnugZees.

Now, I will say M hates them on there when he is awake. He pulls and tugs at them and fusses until we take them off. But they are so super easy to take on and off that it’s not a problem at all. I can’t wait to get a SnugZee set for TNB, I’m sure as a teeny baby these suckers work even better than the head support pillows most carseats come with. Plus – they are ADORABLE!!! Our are a t-rex pattern and are just super duper cute. But there are tons of different fabrics to choose from!
